Fractal Solar Trees
Neon Green offer trees of various kilowatt ratings and aesthetics, from 1.2kW to 8.6kW, and from simple plant-inspired forms to elegant fractal designs.
Having a very narrow base compared to other solar-array configurations, 99% of the land area below the trees remains usable. The random arrangement of solar panels also provides dappled shading from the sun for people sitting, walking, or working beneath, and in tropical climates protecting plants from excessive sunlight.
The solar tree was also conceived as a means to raise awareness and acceptance of solar power, with an educational aspect arising from the playful metaphor between the natural leaves of a tree collecting sunlight for photosynthesis, and the man-made 'leaves' – the solar panels – collecting sunlight to produce electricity.
The structures are made in sections for ease of transportation and erection, using structural grade steel tubing, with a highly durable galvanized coating and optional painted finish. A concrete slab forms the foundation of each tree, sized according to the ground conditions of each site, and below ground if necessary to allow plants to grow up to the the edge of the trunks.
All Solar Trees are designed to comply with the structural safety regulations of the country of installation, and be capable of withstanding storm force winds.
